SASCE presented at the International Conference on Religion and Freedom of Expression in Lisbon

The Safer and Stronger Communities in Europe (SASCE) project was presented at the International Conference on Religion and Freedom of Expression in Lisbon, held from 7 to 8 February, organised by the International Association for the Defense of Religious Freedom.

The SASCE project is carried out by CEC, together with European religious partners, funded by the Internal Police Fund of the European Commission.

The participants at the conference discussed international legal framework in the area of freedom of expression and freedom of religion or belief. Keynote address, among others, was delivered by the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief Prof. Dr Nazila Ghanea.

CEC Executives Secretary for Human Rights Dr Elizabeta Kitanovic shared SASCE material with UN Special Rapporteur at this occasion and discussed the continuation of well-established working relationship with UN office on Freedom of Religion or Belief.

SASCE aims to increase security in and around places of worship, as well as within and between communities. The project has been implemented across 15 European countries, including Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
