Rt Rev. Dr Dagmar Winter, CEC Vice-President

Rt Rev. Dr Dagmar Winter is the Bishop of Edinburgh in the Scottish Episcopal Church. Prior to this, she served as Bishop of Huntingdon in the Diocese of Ely, where she also held the role of Acting Bishop of Ely.

Bishop Dagmar completed her Doctorate in Theology at Heidelberg University, Germany, in February 1996. Her ordination into the priesthood at Rochester Cathedral followed swiftly in 1997.

Bishop Dagmar's earlier years mostly include ministry (Licensed Lay Ministers, Curates, Ordinands – Sponsoring Bishop), ecumenical links and Rural Church. Over the years, she has also held different postings in academic institutions and national roles.

She has worked as a Vicar, Curate, Priest-in-Charge and Area Dean in various locations in the United Kingdom. She served as Bishop's Adviser for Women's Ministry and a member of Bishop’s Senior Staff from 2012-2019. During some of those years (2015-2019), Bishop Dagmar served as Rector of Hexham Abbey. From 2014-2017, she was an Honorary Fellow in the Department of Theology & Religion at Durham University.

Her national posts include Member of General Synod of the Church of England for the Diocese of Newcastle, Member of Mission and Public Affairs Council of the Church of England and Member of Church of England Faith and Order Commission.

She was voted Vice-President of CEC on 19 June 2023.
