The Conference of European Churches (CEC) contributed to a webinar titled Peace Activities of Faith-Based INGOs, organised on 18 November 2024 by the Committee for Interreligious and Interconvictional Dialogue of the INGO Conference at the Council of Europe.
The event gathered around 100 participants, addressing civil society's role in fostering peace and supporting victims of war and violence.
Dr Elizabeta Kitanovic, CEC Programme Officer for Advocacy and Dialogue, showcased the organisation’s Pathways to Peace initiative. Her presentation emphasised the need for legal, political, and financial measures to ensure the protection of religious communities and places of worship in times of war, frozen conflicts, and peacetime. Dr Kitanovic highlighted CEC’s ongoing efforts to secure advocacy for these communities amidst global crises.
The webinar provided a platform to discuss solidarity among civil society actors and the necessity of fostering understanding and cooperation to support individuals affected by conflict. Attendees reaffirmed the urgency of building bridges across communities and promoting a future of peace through interfaith collaboration
