And they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more, Isaiah 2:4.
CEC invites all churches and communities in Europe and beyond, to join the Peace Prayer on 22 March that will draw Christians together into prayer and advocacy for peace in a global context where war and violence abound, and peace has become even more urgent.
As the war in Ukraine enters its second year, a partnership of Christian World Communions is organising an online global peace prayer. Prayers for peace will be raised not only for Ukraine but for other areas suffering from violence or the threat thereof, including escalating violence in Palestine, continuing military exercises threatening peace on the Korean peninsula, state violence in Myanmar, and a fragile situation in Ethiopia.
Last year, CEC, the Baptist World Alliance, Lutheran World Federation, Mennonite World Conference, World Methodist Conference, and World Communion of Reformed Churches organised an online global peace prayer on Ash Wednesday. This was attended by over 5,000 people from 150 countries.
This year, these Christian World Communions, CEC and the World Council of Churches, are organising a global peace prayer on 22 March at 15:00 (CET).
