The European Online Pre-Conference for the Sixth World Conference on Faith and Order, “Where Now for Visible Unity?” will take place on 23–25 September 2025, organised by the Conference of European Churches (CEC) in cooperation with the World Council of Churches (WCC). 

This meeting forms part of preparations for the WCC Sixth World Conference on Faith and Order scheduled for 24–28 October 2025 in Wadi El Natrun, Egypt. 

The online sessions will take place only for a few hours each day, making it easy for participants to join without committing full working days.

The gathering will open with prayer and words of welcome, followed by discussion on the forthcoming conference. A session on “Ecumenical Council of Nicaea and its significance for church unity” will reflect on the Nicene Creed as a foundation for faith and witness in times of crisis. Panel contributions and small-group discussion will accompany the exchange.

The programme will move to “Confessing the one faith in increasingly secular and plural societies”. This session will explore how churches engage public life in the face of secularisation, religious plurality and migration, while upholding human dignity and freedom of religion. A further session on “Witnessing to Christ together in a broken world” will consider common witness amid armed conflict, forced migration, the climate crisis and threats to human dignity. Both sessions will include reflection, panel input and discussion in small groups.

The final day will feature “Walking in the Spirit toward Christian unity”, focusing on the Spirit’s reconciling work and the churches’ call to credible peace witness. The session will highlight discernment, mutual accountability and steps toward unity in the context of war and division. The meeting will close with a listeners’ report, shared reflections and prayer.
