As the European consultation organised by the Conference of European Churches (CEC) unfolded in Warsaw, communicators from Europe and beyond drew together to document the stories and testimonies from Ukraine and in the region—all in search of a “just peace.”

As insights were shared at the consultation, communicators distributed them via social media, video clips, press releases, and photos.

“The importance of communications and media cannot be taken for granted, especially in the times of war,” said Naveen Qayyum, Communications Officer for CEC. “Adding visibility to the voices of our member churches, especially from Ukraine, is nothing but crucial.”

“Our reporting from the consultation is a an attempt at highlighting the significance of ecumenical dialogue that is an intrinsic part of the CEC initiative Pathways to Peace.”

CEC General Secretary Frank-Dieter Fischbach expressed appreciation for the communications team, many of whom volunteered their time.

“CEC is grateful to its members and partners that have sent communicators to work for the consultation,” he said. “It is a special way in which a church fellowship thrives, cooperating and supporting for the common cause of European churches, building just peace.”

The co-opted communication team in Warsaw included Ewa Jowanka Rzońca from the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland, Łukasz Troc from the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Gérald Machabert from the Union of Protestant Churches of Alsace and Lorraine, Natallia Vasilevich from the Ecumenical Patriarch, Giulianna Camarena from Peru, Samuel Pfeffer from Germany and Susan Kim from the United States.
