Rev. Frank-Dieter Fischbach, General Secretary of the Conference of European Churches (CEC), underscored the importance of ecumenical unity during the 9th General Assembly of the Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE) in Sibiu, Romania.

Held from 27 August to 2 September 2024, the assembly brought together diverse European churches to address the theme "In the Light of Christ – Called to Hope".

"The Conference of European Churches is grateful to journey alongside the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe," said Rev. Frank-Dieter Fischbach. "In a Europe, where societies and churches are deeply affected by multiple crisis, the ecumenical life of the churches is crucial and remains a sign of hope in Europe."

Fischbach also commended the CPCE for successfully completing their theological and social-ethical work during the General Assembly, despite the obstacles posed by the COVID times. "Church's mission remains to bear witness to the Gospel in the complexities of the modern world, contributing to enlightenment in all its dimensions," he added.
