The Conference of European Churches President Rev. Christian Krieger conveyed congratulations on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia, welcoming His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I in Stockholm last week.
The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I visited Sweden from 27 September to 1 October. He presided over the celebrations commemorating 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia, the 130th anniversary of the construction of the St. George Cathedral of Stockholm and delivered a keynote address at the Metropolis.
Invited by the CEC Vice President Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia, Rev. Krieger brought greetings on behalf of CEC at the celebrations and the Assembly of the clergy and laity of the diocese.
“The Conference of European Churches is grateful for the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s commitment to ecumenical work over the years,” he said. “In November, we are looking forward to welcoming His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch in Brussels, a city where the headquarters of CEC are located and we are looking forward to further cooperation with the Ecumenical Patriarchate with regard to the European Institutions.”
“I wish the Clergy-Laity Synaxis a successful gathering and pray that our Lord Jesus Christ will strengthen and inspire your work,” added Rev. Krieger.
