CEC and COMECE receive delegation from Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy

CEC and the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) received a delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, discussing the promotion of European values and the role of Christians in the process of EU integration.

The Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy is an inter-parliamentary institution based in Athens, set up upon the initiative of the Hellenic Parliament. 

CEC General Secretary Dr Jørgen Skov Sørensen and COMECE General Secretary Fr Manuel Prieto welcomed representatives of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy at the COMECE office in Brussels on 25 October 2022.

They discussed the Conference on the Future of Europe process and results and the effective implementation of a meaningful dialogue on the frame of Article 17 TFEU.

The delegation from the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy included Dr Maximos Charakopoulos, Member of the Hellenic Parliament, Secretary General of IAO, Dr Andreas Michailidis, Member of the Hellenic Parliament, Alternate Secretary General of the IAO, Mr Stavros Keletsis, Member of the Hellenic Parliament, Treasurer of the IAO, Dr Kostas Mygdalis, IAO Advisor, Mr Alexandr Fomenko, IAO Advisor and Mr Goran Trpchevski, IAO Secretariat 

Among other participants were CEC Executive Secretary Ms Katerina Pekridou, General Vicar Archimandrite Philadelphos Kafalis, representative of the Orthodox Metropolis of Belgium, Mr Marek Mišák, Policy Adviser on EU External Affairs and Secretary of the COMECE Commission on EU External Affairs.
